Mumbai, May 15: Ranveer Singh-starrer “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” may already be streaming internationally, but Indian audiences are still waiting for the film’s digital release, triggering widespread discussion online over the reportedly “raw and uncut” overseas version.

While the action thriller began streaming on Netflix in several international markets from May 14, the film is yet to premiere in India on JioHotstar.

According to sources within Jio, the makers are expected to release the film for Indian viewers only after the conclusion of IPL 2026 on May 31, with the streaming debut likely sometime in June.

Amid mounting curiosity, JioHotstar recently teased the upcoming release on social media platform X by sharing a short clip captioned: “Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready for this?” The teaser also carried the message: “Exploding soon.”

The international OTT version, titled “Dhurandhar: The Revenge – Raw and Uncut”, has generated intense reactions online, with viewers claiming it includes several violent and emotionally charged scenes that were shortened or toned down in the theatrical version released in India.

Social media users have particularly highlighted the restoration of graphic action sequences, uncensored dialogues and extended violence that were reportedly trimmed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Among the scenes drawing attention online is the opening sequence featuring Jaskirat’s violent rampage, which allegedly contains a fully restored hammer attack sequence.

Another reportedly uncensored scene involves Ranveer Singh’s character crushing a man’s head with a cement block during the Muridke climax.

Fans have also pointed to extended portions from the Lyari Gang War chapter, including sequences involving fire attacks and brutal killings.

Several viewers noted that abuses muted in the theatrical release remain untouched in the international version, with subtitles reportedly translating the dialogues without censorship.

One of the most talked-about scenes online involves gangster Uzair Baloch allegedly playing football with a severed head — a sequence that viewers claim was either removed or heavily cut in theatres.

Fans also observed that some scenes shown earlier in promotional trailers but absent from the theatrical release have now reappeared in the OTT version.

The uncensored version has triggered divided reactions on social media.

Many viewers praised the overseas cut for being more immersive and intense, with one user claiming the CBFC “butchered” the theatrical experience for Indian audiences.

Others described the OTT print as “raw and brutal” with “no beep or scene cuts”.

However, not all reactions were positive, with some viewers criticising the film’s lengthy runtime and storytelling.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” stars Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy operating in Karachi. The cast also includes Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun.

The franchise’s first installment featured Akshaye Khanna as the antagonist.

According to reports, the two films in the franchise together have grossed over Rs 3,100 crore worldwide.
