Udupi, May 13: On the occasion of International Nurses Day, the Department of Community Health Nursing and Nursing Foundation of Sri Adarsha College of Nursing successfully organised a Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programme on ‘Biomedical Waste Management’ at Udupi District Hospital on Tuesday.
The programme was conducted for nurses, healthcare team members, and students of the district hospital with the aim of creating awareness about the safe management of biomedical waste in healthcare institutions.
The programme was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Ashok H, district surgeon of Udupi District Hospital. Addressing the gathering, he stressed that proper segregation and management of biomedical waste are essential to prevent infections and protect the environment.





Resource person Nisha Vasudev delivered a detailed session on biomedical waste management and explained various methods of safe disposal and handling of medical waste.
Nurses, healthcare staff, and students actively participated in the programme. Certificates were distributed to all participants. The event was appreciated by attendees and was considered highly informative and beneficial.
Guest of honour Leelavathi, nursing In-charge, appreciated the initiative and stated that such educational programmes are highly necessary for healthcare staff. The programme was presided over by Prof Sudheena M, principal of Sri Adarsha College of Nursing.
Bharathi, assistant professor of the college, was also present on the occasion.
Vinaya welcomed the gathering. Pooja, a fourth-year BSc nursing student proposed the vote of thanks. Divya, faculty member compered the programme.
