Puttur: Bike rider killed on spot, wife critical in car collision at Golithottu

Puttur, May 11: A 59-year-old bike rider was killed on the spot and his wife sustained severe injuries when a car collided with their two-wheeler at the Golithottu junction near Uppinangady on the afternoon of Sunday, May 10.

The deceased has been identified as Sadananda Acharya (59), a resident of Arasinamakki in Beltangady taluk. He was an employee of the Hatyadka Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society in Arasinamakki. His wife, Usha, who was riding pillion, suffered grievous injuries in the mishap and has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment.

According to reports, the couple was traveling from Arasinamakki to Uppinangady via the Kokkada route. The tragic accident occurred just as they were joining the national highway at Golithottu, when a car traveling from Uppinangady towards Shiradi rammed into their bike. The impact of the collision was fatal, resulting in Sadananda Acharya's death at the scene.

Puttur traffic police visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case in connection with the incident.
