New Delhi, Apr 28: In a major breakthrough for Indian law enforcement agencies, Salim Dola, a key member of the D-Company led by Dawood Ibrahim, was deported to India on Tuesday following a coordinated international operation.

Dola was brought to Delhi in the early hours aboard a special aircraft and taken into custody immediately upon arrival for intensive interrogation by central intelligence agencies.

The development comes a day after his arrest in Istanbul. Officials said his deportation marks a significant blow to the international narcotics network allegedly run by the underworld syndicate.

According to sources, Dola was handling a substantial portion of D-Company’s global drug operations from abroad, with his cartel reportedly running a network worth over Rs 5,000 crore annually.

A senior Mumbai police official, speaking anonymously, termed the arrest a “big setback” for the syndicate’s trafficking operations.

After initial questioning by central agencies, Dola is likely to be handed over to either the Mumbai Police or the Narcotics Control Bureau for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The deportation follows earlier crackdowns on the network. In June 2025, Dola’s son Taher Dola was extradited from the UAE. Subsequently, his associate Salim Mohammed Sohail Shaikh was deported from Dubai and arrested by the Mumbai Anti-Narcotics Cell.

Authorities said these actions reflect a tightening net around the syndicate, which faces multiple charges in India, including large-scale drug manufacturing, international smuggling, and other criminal activities.

In addition, the Enforcement Directorate is probing money laundering cases linked to Dola and his associates, further intensifying scrutiny on the network’s financial operations.
