New Delhi, Apr 27: An off-duty Delhi Police head constable was arrested after allegedly shooting dead a 21-year-old delivery agent and injuring another following a dispute over noise in Dwarka in the early hours of Sunday.
The accused, identified as Neeraj and posted with the Special Cell of Delhi Police, was apprehended after a 15-hour chase, officials said.
According to police, the incident occurred around 2 am in Jaffarpur Kalan when a group of people returning from a birthday celebration were standing on the road and talking. The accused allegedly objected to the noise, leading to a heated argument.

During the altercation, Neeraj allegedly fired a single shot. The bullet hit one young man in the chest, killing him on the spot, and then struck another man in the abdomen, leaving him critically injured.
Police said the deceased was a delivery executive associated with Zomato. Both victims were reportedly on a two-wheeler at the time of the incident.
Officials said around 13 people, including two minors, had gathered at the spot after the celebration, with some already leaving in a taxi when the confrontation took place. Eyewitnesses claimed the accused fled immediately after the shooting.
The victim’s family has alleged that the killing was motivated by bias, claiming the constable abused the young man after learning he was from Bihar before opening fire. However, police said the “hate crime” angle is yet to be established and is under investigation.
Another eyewitness alleged that the accused appeared intoxicated and continued threatening the group despite repeated apologies. Police are also probing whether the service weapon was used in the crime.
Both victims were rushed to RTR Hospital around 2.30 am, where one was declared brought dead, officials added. An investigation is ongoing.
