Tehran, Apr 24: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will travel to Pakistan as part of a regional tour amid ongoing mediation efforts aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States, Iranian state media confirmed on Friday.
The official IRNA news agency said Araghchi will begin the tour on Friday evening, visiting Islamabad, Muscat and Moscow for bilateral consultations and discussions on regional developments.
According to the report, the visit will focus on reviewing the latest situation arising from the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, as well as diplomatic efforts to address the crisis.
Pakistan has been playing a mediatory role in efforts to de-escalate tensions, and Araghchi’s visit comes amid reports of renewed diplomatic engagement.
Iran had earlier confirmed that Araghchi held phone conversations with Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, both of whom were involved in previous mediation initiatives.
The White House has not commented on whether any US delegation would also travel to Pakistan in connection with the diplomatic efforts.
The visit is being closely watched as regional powers continue consultations aimed at reducing hostilities in West Asia.
