‘Mankam Mothiyan-2’ children’s summer camp concludes at Bajodi church

Mangaluru, Apr 23: The valedictory programme of the three-day children’s summer camp ‘Mankam Mothiyan-2’, organized by the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy in association with Infant Mary Church, Bajodi, was held on April 22, at the church auditorium.

President of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Joachim Stany Alvares, presided over the programme and, in his introductory remarks, welcomed all the guests, camp participants, and trainers.

Certificates were distributed to all the children who participated in the camp by Christopher Ninasam and Fr Ivan D’Souza.

Chief guest Christopher Ninasam, in his address, urged the children to understand and internalize everything they learned during the camp and apply it in their future lives. Guest of honour Fr Ivan D’Souza encouraged the children, stating that lessons learned at a young age stay with individuals throughout life, and advised them to use the knowledge gained in the camp as a guiding light to grow into responsible citizens.

Parish priest of Infant Mary Church, Bajodi, Fr Dominic Vaas, addressing the children, emphasized that the responsibility of preserving and promoting the Konkani language lies with the younger generation. He urged them to speak the language regularly and strengthen its usage.

Vocal trainer Dyal D’Souza, dance trainer Rahul Pinto, and other trainers were thanked for their contributions to the camp. The programme was compered by Sianna Vegas, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Ashel Pinto.
