Moodbidri, Apr 20: The Commission for Social Communication of Corpus Christi Church, organized an informative and timely programme on ‘Cyber Bullying: Types and Information’ on Sunday, April 19 at the church hall. The initiative aimed to educate parishioners on the growing challenges and risks associated with the digital world.

The session was led by resource person Pratibha K C, police sub inspector of Moodbidri police station, who addressed various critical issues affecting online users today. She highlighted the dangers of misinformation and cyberbullying, with special emphasis on emerging threats linked to the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In her address, Pratibha stressed the importance of responsible digital behavior, stating, “In an era where our lives are increasingly intertwined with the digital world, it is not enough to be just users; we must be responsible digital citizens. Our aim is to empower individuals with the knowledge to protect themselves and to harness social media for positive growth.”

The session covered a wide range of cyber threats, including OTP frauds, online shopping scams, hacking, digital arrest through video calls, online job frauds, loan app exploitation, and cashback scams. Her practical insights and real-life examples helped participants better understand and identify these risks.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Fr Onil D’Souza and was coordinated by Teresa Cardoza, along with Ivy Serrao, convenor of the Commission for Social Communication.

A large number of parishioners attended the program, making it a meaningful and impactful awareness initiative.
