Mangaluru, Apr 16: The Athena Institute of Health Sciences celebrated the graduation ceremony for its 20th batch of GNM, 18th batch of BSc Nursing, 14th batch of PBBSc Nursing, 13th batch of MSc Nursing, and several batches of Allied Health Sciences on April 13 at the Town Hall.
Around 180 graduates stepped forward into a new phase of life, marking a significant milestone for the institution. The ceremony honoured students from various disciplines, including Renal Dialysis Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology, and Emergency Medicine and Trauma Care Technology.






















The event was graced by chief guest Dr G Arun Maiya, dean, MCHP, MAHE, and president of the Autonomous Board, UG Education, KSAHC. Prof Pradeep M, principal of Srinivas College of Nursing, was the guest of honour. The ceremony was presided over by Asha Shettian, chairperson of Athena Institute; Dr Ashith Shettian, managing trustee; Dr Nishitha Shettian Fernandez, secretary; Prof Sr Deepa Peter, principal of the School and College of Nursing; Dr Nandini M, principal of Allied Health Sciences; and Prof Sunitha Claudia Lobo, vice principal.
The programme commenced with a grand procession of graduates and faculty, followed by a traditional 'Poornakumba Swagath' and an invocation dance. Tributes were paid to the late chairman, R S Shettian, during the lighting of the traditional lamp.
Prof Sr Deepa Peter and Dr Nandini M presented the annual reports and administered the professional oaths. The graduates pledged to uphold ethics, compassion, and dedication in the noble field of healthcare.
In his address, chief guest Dr G Arun Maiya congratulated the graduates and stressed the '5Cs' essential for success: compassion, commitment, collaboration, curiosity, and continuous learning. Guest of honour Prof Pradeep M encouraged the students to transition from learners to skilled professionals capable of bringing meaningful change to society.

A significant highlight was the release of the 7th edition of the college magazine, 'ATHESPITHA 2024-2026'. Dedicated to the late R S Shettian, the edition was compiled under the guidance of chief editor Siji C V and staff editor Prashwin D'Mello.
In his presidential address, Dr Ashith Shettian emphasized the values of discipline and lifelong learning. He lauded the faculty for shaping responsible professionals and extended his best wishes to the new graduates.
Representing the graduates, Natha Ann and Bhavana shared nostalgic reflections of their journey at the institution. Prof Johncy Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks, while Ancilla and Celia compered the ceremony. The event concluded with cultural programmes and a graduation dinner, attended by approximately 850 people including parents and alumni.
