Moodbidri, Apr 14: In a significant development for aviation education in coastal Karnataka, Alva’s College, located in Vidyagiri, Moodbidri, inaugurated its Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) on Tuesday. The facility is the first Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-approved drone training academy in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district.
The inauguration ceremony was marked by the presence of several prominent dignitaries. Dr Mohan Alva, who attended as the chief guest, underscored the importance of skill-based and technology-oriented education. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the transformative role of drone technology in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, surveillance, and disaster management, encouraging students to explore emerging opportunities in these fields.
P K Mishra spoke about the expanding use of drones in law enforcement and public safety, while Vivek Alva outlined the institution’s vision to introduce innovative programmes aligned with industry demands and future career prospects. Jagadish Shenava was also present at the event.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder and Managing Director of Aerodynamiks Academy, addressed the audience. He emphasized the increasing demand for certified drone pilots across industries and explained that the RPTO is a collaborative venture by Aerodynamiks Academy, to be operated at the Alva’s College campus, integrating industry expertise with academic training.
The event witnessed a strong turnout, with hundreds of students attending the inauguration. Their enthusiastic participation reflected the growing interest among youth in drone technology and aviation-related careers.
The launch of the RPTO is expected to strengthen the academic ecosystem of Alva’s College and position Dakshina Kannada as a hub for DGCA-certified drone training. The initiative stands as a collaborative effort between Alva’s Education Foundation and Aerodynamiks Academy to foster innovation and prepare future-ready professionals in the field of unmanned aerial systems.

To ensure complete industry readiness, they also provide Swimming classes, Firefighting training, and First Aid training with certification.
They have introduced a BSc in CAPT (Civil Aviation Pilot Training)/ CAFD (Civil Aviation Flight Dispatcher) in collaboration with NITTE University, a first-of-its-kind program in India for Pilot Training. In addition, they maintain strong academic partnerships with St Agnes College (Autonomous) and Alva’s College (Autonomous), further strengthening the quality, credibility, and reach of our programs.
They have also launched a 6-month Art of Hospitality course in collaboration with The Avatar Hotel & Conventions, comprising 3 months of classroom training followed by a 3- month internship at the hotel. This is a skill-based program.
Aerodynamiks Academy is an ISO-certified aviation training institution and is registered under the Skill India, NSDC and Aerospace & Aviation Sector Skill Council (AASSC).
