Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School Summer Camp 'LCS Culture Cove 2026' held

Media Release

Mangaluru, Apr 13: The annual summer camp, ‘LCS Culture Cove 2026’, was held at Lourdes Central School from March 27 to April 10, offering students an enriching experience filled with creativity, adventure, and teamwork.

The camp was inaugurated on March 27 by Dr Lovely George, associate professor of pathology at A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. The inaugural ceremony was graced by principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice-principal Anita Thomas, and camp coordinators Linet Pinto and Lolita Coelho. In her address, Dr Lovely George emphasised the role of summer camps in the holistic development of children and encouraged students to discover their strengths beyond the classroom.

The camp began with an energetic ice-breaking session, followed by zumba and dance modules. A total of 160 campers, ranging from pre-primary to class 5, participated in various activities including ‘Wealth Out of Waste’ projects, games, and personality development sessions. To add to the festive spirit, different dress codes were assigned for each day.

The participants were divided into three groups—Desi Dhamaka, Paradise Dhamaka, and Tribal Dhamaka. Based on their age levels, the KG students were named ‘Happy Hoppers’, classes 1 and 2 were ‘Blazing Comets’, and students of classes 3 to 5 were called ‘Power Panthers’.

A special ‘Quiz Wiz’ session was conducted by Suneetha K and her team, while ‘Q-Shala’ sessions led by Flavia introduced strategy-based card games to develop quick thinking and observation skills among the campers.

As part of experiential learning, an educational outing was organised on April 1 to Pilikula Guthu Mane and the Artisans Village. The visit allowed students to explore rural life and nature. Another major highlight was the water games and rain dance held on April 6.

Under the ‘Wealth Out of Waste’ initiative, campers and teachers transformed reusable materials into decorative props, which were later used during the grand finale performances. The camp successfully encouraged students to stay away from digital distractions and engage in social interaction.

The summer camp concluded on April 10 with a traditional campfire. The closing ceremony was attended by the principal, vice-principal, and coordinators. Students from the various groups showcased vibrant dance performances inspired by their respective themes.

Principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira appreciated the efforts of the organisers, teachers, and students for the well-planned execution of the camp. He extended his gratitude to camp coordinators Linet Pinto and Lolita Coelho, along with the staff members, for their dedication in making the event a success. ‘LCS Culture Cove 2026’ concluded as a celebration of culture and togetherness, leaving the participants with cherished memories.
