Mumbai, Apr 13: Athiya Shetty has landed in controversy after mistakenly posting a photograph of Lata Mangeshkar while mourning the demise of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away on Sunday.

The actress shared the incorrect image on her Instagram Story, prompting widespread criticism on social media. Though she deleted the post shortly after and replaced it, screenshots had already gone viral, drawing sharp reactions online.

Many users expressed disappointment over the error, questioning the lack of attention in such a sensitive moment. Some criticised her for carelessness, while others termed the mistake “embarrassing,” with posts on social media platforms highlighting the mix-up.

Notably, Lata Mangeshkar had passed away on February 6, 2022, making the error more apparent to the public.

Meanwhile, Doctor Prateet Samdani confirmed that Asha Bhosle had been battling multiple health issues and died due to multi-organ failure.

“It is sad news that Asha Bhosle has passed away today. She was suffering from multiple medical complications and died due to multi-organ failure,” he said.

The last rites of the veteran singer will be performed at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Monday at 4 pm.
