Hingoli, Apr 11: A mild earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck parts of Maharashtra on Friday morning, causing tremors across Hingoli, Nanded, and Parbhani districts and sending residents rushing out of their homes in panic.
According to official reports, the tremors were felt around 8:45 am and lasted for several seconds, shaking several towns and villages across the region. In Nanded district, strong tremors were reported from Nanded city, Ardhapur, Mudkhed, Loha, Naigaon, Hadgaon, and Himayatnagar talukas. Residents in both urban and rural areas reported feeling sudden shaking, prompting people to rush outdoors fearing aftershocks.
Authorities said that so far, no casualties or damage to property have been reported. However, local administration teams have been placed on alert and are monitoring the situation closely.

The epicentre of the earthquake has been identified as a location north of Shirli village in Vasmat taluka of Hingoli district, officials said. Seismological data is being further reviewed to assess depth and intensity variations across the affected regions.
Soon after the tremors, district authorities in Hingoli, Parbhani, and Nanded issued public advisories urging citizens not to panic and to remain calm. Officials also appealed to people not to believe in rumours circulating on social media and to rely only on verified information from government sources.
Emergency response teams and local disaster management authorities are on standby, while field officers have been instructed to conduct rapid assessments in sensitive and rural pockets to ensure there is no structural damage.
The situation remains under observation, with officials continuing to track any possible aftershocks.
