Mangaluru, Apr 10: The Mangaluru city police commissionerate has issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) through Interpol to trace a key accused who is absconding abroad after being involved in a criminal case within its jurisdiction.

The accused is identified as Shamsuddin (36) against whom the Red Corner Notice has been issued.

Shamsuddin, also known as Altaf, Altaf Imran, and Imran, along with his associates, had in 2008 kidnapped a man named Praveen near Pavanje in Mulki on the national highway. They robbed him of his car and other valuables, later taking him to a quarry near Kalavaru, where they drowned him in water and murdered him. In connection with this case, all the accused had been sentenced to life imprisonment.

However, Shamsuddin managed to escape by obtaining fake documents and changing his name to Sheikh Mohammed Siddique. Using these forged documents, he secured a passport and fled abroad.

Police suspect that he is currently residing in Saudi Arabia.
