Mangaluru, Apr 8: Mandd Sobhann, one of the world’s premier Konkani cultural organizations, will host the muhurtham and logo launch of the First World Konkani Music Mega Convention on Friday, April 10, at 4:00 pm at Kalaangann.
Addressing a press conference at the Press Club on April 8, Mandd Sobhann president Louis J Pinto, said, “The mega convention, part of Mandd Sobhann’s 40th anniversary celebrations (1986–2026), is scheduled to be held in Mangaluru from November 3 to 15.



“U T Khader, Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, will attend as the chief guest. Dinesh Gundu Rao, minister for health and family welfare and district in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada, will officially launch the event logo. Guests of honour include Vedavyas Kamath, Ivan D'Souza, and noted Goan artiste Michael Gracias.
“A key highlight of the upcoming convention will be an ambitious attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by multiple singers, spanning 12 days, 12 hours, and 12 minutes. The event is expected to bring together over 6,000 singers from across Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala, other parts of India, and abroad. Participants from diverse communities, including Christian, GSB, Daldi, Kudmi, Kharvi, Siddi, and Syrian Orthodox groups, will perform nearly 5,000 Konkani songs during the marathon.
“In addition to the record attempt, the convention will feature music-related symposiums, felicitation of veteran artistes, a Hall of Fame, and a cultural exhibition dedicated to Konkani music and heritage. The event is also being organised as a tribute to renowned Konkani music promoter Eric Ozario for his significant contributions to the field,” he said.
Mandd Sobhann office-bearers, including Kalaangann president Roy Castelino, music director Joel Pereira, coordinator Stany Alvares, vice president Naveen Lobo, and secretary Ronald Crasta, were present.
