Kundapur, Apr 7: A 62-year-old woman lost her life on the spot after being hit by a KSRTC bus on April 6 night at Thekkatte on National Highway 66.

The deceased has been identified as Alimabi (62), a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Koteshwar.

According to reports, Alimabi had attended a wedding reception in Thekkatte. At around 10 pm, while she was crossing the highway along with three other women to return home, a KSRTC bus travelling from Mangaluru towards Badami-Aihole reportedly rammed into her. Witnesses attributed the accident to overspeeding and negligent driving by the bus driver.

Due to the impact of the collision, Alimabi sustained severe head and body injuries and died on the spot. Locals and police immediately shifted the body to the Government Hospital in Kundapur for post-mortem examination.

Alimabi is survived by four sons and one daughter. Notably, one son and one daughter are mentally challenged and were under her constant care. Her sudden demise has left the two dependent children helpless, raising serious concerns among the local community regarding their future.
