Bantwal, April 5: The 119th birth anniversary of green revolution pioneer Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram was commemorated on Sunday at the S G S Y auditorium in B C Road, organised jointly by the Bantwal Taluk Administration, Taluk Panchayat, Municipal Council, and Department of Social Welfare.
The event was inaugurated by Bantwal tahsildar Manjunath, who said, “The ideals of such towering personalities continue to guide us. Thanks to their relentless struggle, we can lead lives founded on equality. Students should read about the lives of such eminent individuals to truly understand their legacy.”

Teacher Gopalakrishna Mani described Dr Jagjivan Ram’s achievements as “a beacon of inspiration for students. A visionary who led the food revolution, he also served as a model administrator during his long tenure as a minister.”
Speaking at the ceremony, taluk panchayat executive officer Sachin Kumar said, “Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram’s life is exemplary. Let us all follow his path and live by his ideals.”
Also present on the dais were cluster education officer Malathi, municipal chief officer Teerthaprasad, and community leaders Baby Myrun Paade. The programme was welcomed by Vinaya Kumari K B, assistant director of the Department of Social Welfare, and felicitations were offered by staff member Prasad.
The celebration highlighted Dr Jagjivan Ram’s enduring legacy as a social reformer, visionary leader, and champion of equality, inspiring students and citizens alike to uphold his ideals in everyday life.
