Washington, Apr 3: US President Donald Trump has dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi following mounting criticism over stalled investigations and her handling of files linked to accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

In a social media post, Trump described Bondi as a “great American patriot” and said she would transition to “an important new job in the private sector.”

Bondi’s removal marks the second Cabinet-level exit in Trump’s current term. She will be temporarily replaced by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche as the administration prepares to nominate a successor.

Her tenure had come under scrutiny from lawmakers across party lines over the delayed and partial release of Epstein-related documents. While around 3 million pages were eventually made public, another 2.5 million remain sealed, citing legal and privacy concerns.

Bondi defended her record, stating that leading the Justice Department under Trump had been “the honour of a lifetime,” and said she would continue supporting the administration in a private capacity.

Meanwhile, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley thanked her for her service and indicated readiness to consider Trump’s next nominee.

The development adds to recent leadership changes within the administration, reflecting ongoing shifts amid political and legal challenges.
