Pramod Bhagat leads India’s medal rush at Spanish Para Badminton International

Toledo (Spain), Mar 29: India delivered a strong performance at the Spanish Para Badminton International 2026 – Level 1, with Pramod Bhagat emerging as the star performer after winning one gold and two silver medals.

Bhagat clinched gold in the Mixed Doubles SL3-SU5 category alongside Manisha Ramdass. The duo defeated fellow Indians Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan in straight games, sealing the match 21-15, 24-22 with a composed and coordinated performance.

In the Men’s Singles SL3 final, Bhagat settled for silver after losing to Nitesh Kumar in straight games. He added another silver in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SU5 event, partnering with Sukant Kadam. The pair fought hard but went down to Naveen Sivakumar and Surya Kant Yadav in a three-game contest.

Expressing satisfaction with his performance, Bhagat said the tournament boosted his confidence, especially after competing against strong Indian teammates. He noted that the mixed doubles victory was particularly special due to the team’s composure in crucial moments.

India’s overall campaign was highly successful, with multiple podium finishes. Nitesh Kumar secured gold in Men’s Singles SL3, while Manasi Joshi and Thulasimathi Murugesan won gold in Women’s Doubles SL3-SU5. Thulasimathi also claimed gold in Women’s Singles SU5, with Manisha Ramdass finishing with silver in the same event.
