New Delhi, Mar 26: Mohamed Salah has announced that he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the current season, drawing the curtain on a remarkable nine-year stint that cemented his place among the club’s greatest players.
Reflecting on his journey, Salah described Liverpool as more than just a club. “It’s a passion, a history, a spirit,” he said, expressing deep emotional ties with the team and its supporters.

Since joining from AS Roma in 2017 for around USD 50 million, Salah has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, making him the third-highest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.
In the Premier League, he has been directly involved in 281 goals (189 goals and 92 assists), the most by any player for a single club. Known for his consistency, Salah averaged a goal every 138 minutes and reached 100 league goals in just 151 matches — a club record.
On the European stage, he scored 48 goals in the UEFA Champions League for Liverpool and holds the record for the club’s fastest European goal. He also netted the fastest hat-trick in Champions League history, scoring three goals in just over six minutes.
During his tenure, Salah won eight major titles, including two Premier League titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup, two League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
Individually, he claimed the Premier League Golden Boot four times, equalling the record held by Thierry Henry.
Despite his legendary status, Salah’s final season has been challenging, with a dip in form and reported tensions with manager Arne Slot.
Liverpool now faces a major rebuild, with replacing Salah emerging as a key challenge for the club.
As for the Egyptian star’s future, potential moves to leagues in Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer, or a return to European football are being speculated.
Whatever lies ahead, Salah departs Anfield with a legacy defined by goals, trophies, and unforgettable moments.
