Kuwait City, Mar 25: Kuwait air defence systems were activated on Wednesday to intercept missile and drone attacks, the country’s army said, as tensions escalated in the region.

In a statement posted on X, the military said explosions heard in parts of the city were due to interception of “hostile targets” by air defence systems.

Earlier, a drone strike hit a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, triggering a fire, according to the civil aviation authority.

Emergency protocols were immediately activated, with firefighting teams rushing to control the blaze. Authorities said initial reports indicated only material damage, with no casualties reported so far.

The incident comes amid heightened instability in the region, with several countries on alert over potential aerial threats.
