Mangaluru: IQAC of GFGC, Kavoor celebrates International Women's Day

Mangaluru, Mar 16: Women Research Centre, Jagruthi Consumer Club, Youth Red Cross, Rangers & NSS in join collaboration with IQAC of GFGC, Kavoor celebrated International Women's Day on March 16. On this occasion a special talk on ‘Prevention is better than Cure’ – health awareness programme for adolescent girls was organized.

Dr Jyoshma Preema D’Souza, Public Health Implementation Scientist University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg was the resource person who gave an insightful talk on early prevention & screening of cancer among women. She explained the different causes of cancer that can be avoided to prevent certain cancers. She also gave information about screening options & test available to detect cancer at the early stage & treat the same.

Prameela Rao, the women cell coordinator, gave introductory speech & highlighted the importance of Womens Day celebration. Principal, Dr Geetha M L highlighted the role of women in different places and in the society. Dr Therese Pereira, IQAC & Jagrathi Club Coordinator, welcomed the gathering and Dr Santhosh Pinto, student welfare officer proposed vote of thanks. Mamatha U, NSS programme officer was present on stage. Lavanya, III BCom compered the programme. Formal programme was followed by cultural programme by the students.
