Karkala: Awareness programme on endometriosis held at MPM GFGC

Karkala, Mar 7: An awareness programme on endometriosis was organised by the Youth Red Cross, Women’s Cell, Rangers, NSS and Asare Counselling Cell of MPM GFGC, Karkala in collaboration with Kasturba Hospital, Manipal on March 7 to commemorate International Women’s Day and to create awareness among the students about women’s health issues.

Dr Anjali Suneel Mundkur, additional professor, department of reproductive medicine and surgery, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal was the resource person for the programme. She explained the causes, symptoms and possible complications of endometriosis. She also highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, proper medical consultation and breaking the myths related to women’s health. The session was interactive and students actively participated by asking questions and clarifying their doubts.

Dr Swathi along with the PG students of Kasturba Medical College gave a demonstration and explained the important aspects of endometriosis to the participants.

Dr Suresh Rai, the principal of the college has been a constant source of support for all the programmes. In his absence, Prof Jyothi L J, principal in-charge presided over the programme and gave her presidential remarks. Mohini, YRC programme officer, Chandrakanth Shenoy and Renuka, NSS programme officers and Soumya H K, coordinator of the Asare Counselling Cell were present on the occasion.

The programme commenced with a prayer rendered by Sinchana and team of I BCom, setting a positive tone for the event. Thanvi of I BCom welcomed the guest and gathering. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Divya of III BCom and Sinchana of I BCom compered the programme.
