Riyadh, Mar 2: Saudi Arabia on Monday said that two drones which “attempted to attack” the Ras Tanura refinery were intercepted and destroyed by its air defence forces.
According to reports carried by the state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Defence Ministry confirmed that the drones were brought down before they could reach their intended target.

The ministry said debris from the interception caused a “small” fire at the site. However, the fire was quickly brought under control and there were no civilian casualties reported.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the origin of the drones. The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions and increased security alerts across key energy installations in the Middle East.
