Tehran, Mar 2: Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Monday firmly rejected reports claiming that Tehran was seeking to resume negotiations with the United States amid the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
Addressing a recent news claim — which suggested that Larijani had submitted an initiative to resume talks with the US through intermediaries from the Oman — the senior Iranian security official took to social media platform X and stated succinctly: “We will not negotiate with the United States.”

His comments came as tensions between Washington and Tehran have intensified following joint US-Israel strikes on Iranian targets and subsequent retaliatory actions by Iran across the Middle East.
Larijani’s statement directly contradicts earlier reports hinting at possible diplomatic outreach, emphasising Iran’s current unwillingness to enter negotiations with the US at this stage.
Iran’s stance signals a hardening position in the midst of the conflict, even as diplomatic efforts and intermediated discussions had been under way in recent weeks prior to the outbreak of hostilities.
The situation remains fluid as both sides continue military operations and international observers monitor wider regional implications.
