Abu Dhabi, Mar 1: The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned Iran’s missile and drone attacks on Gulf nations, urging Tehran to “return to its senses” and engage with its neighbours responsibly before escalating tensions further. Senior diplomatic advisor Anwar Gargash stated that the strikes missed their intended targets and only served to isolate Iran at a critical moment, reinforcing the perception of Iran as a regional threat.
Gargash warned that Iran’s actions validate concerns over its missile program, describing it as a “perpetual source of instability.” He called on Iran to reconsider its approach, stressing that its war is not with neighbouring countries and that continued escalation risks widening the circle of conflict and isolation.

Amid ongoing hostilities, the UAE reported that its air defence systems intercepted numerous Iranian missiles and drones. Debris from intercepted drones caused injuries to two people in Dubai. According to the Dubai Media Office, the victims received medical care, and the sounds heard across the city were from successful interception operations.
The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that since the start of the attacks, its forces detected 137 Iranian ballistic missiles and 209 drones, successfully intercepting 132 missiles and 195 drones. A small number fell within UAE territory, causing minor material damage. Authorities responded immediately, ensuring the safety of residents and securing affected areas.
The Ministry condemned the strikes as a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and international law, calling the attacks a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security. It urged the public to rely only on official sources and avoid spreading unverified information.
Gargash reiterated that the UAE has made “tremendous and sincere efforts” to avert war and prioritises the stability, security, and safety of its territory and residents. He affirmed that the country’s defence systems are operating at maximum readiness to protect the homeland against any threats.
