Pak-Afghan tensions escalate as Pakistani airstrikes hit Kabul

Daijiworld Media Network - Kabul

Kabul, Feb 28: Satellite images captured on Friday reveal significant damage to multiple buildings in Kabul following Pakistani airstrikes, highlighting a sharp escalation between the neighboring countries. Imagery dated February 27 shows destruction at several locations in the Afghan capital, whereas images from February 26 showed the same buildings intact.

Earlier, Pakistani security sources released monochrome footage claiming to show airstrikes targeting the same sites identified in the satellite imagery. Officials described the strikes as part of an “open war,” marking the first time Pakistan has directly targeted its former allies amid allegations that the Taliban are harboring militant groups.

Afghanistan’s Taliban government expressed willingness to negotiate despite the attacks. Afghan officials reported that the strikes killed dozens of troops. The clashes follow months of rising tensions, with Pakistan accusing the Taliban of sheltering militants responsible for cross-border attacks — a charge Kabul denies.
