Hassan, Feb 27: An unusual incident questioning the functioning of the banking system has been reported from Sakleshpura taluk in Hassan district. A customer has decided to approach the court against a nationalised bank after he was allegedly not refunded 66 paise, despite paying more than the outstanding loan amount of Rs 9.34.
Charan, a resident of Sakleshpura taluk, received a phone call from bank staff informing him that Rs 9.34 was pending in his loan account and asking him to clear the dues. Immediately after receiving the call, Charan visited the bank without any delay and paid Rs 10 towards the outstanding amount.

Charan has alleged that although he paid Rs 10 against the pending Rs 9.34, the remaining 66 paise was not refunded to him by the bank. Expressing his dissatisfaction, he stated, “If the excess amount I paid is not returned, I will approach the court.”
Revealing further details, Charan said that he had earlier taken a loan of Rs 50,000 from the bank and had repaid almost the entire amount, with only Rs 9.34 remaining. Questioning the bank’s action, he remarked, “If the bank makes a call even for just Rs 9.34, it clearly shows the kind of pressure customers are under.”
The incident took place at the Sakleshpura branch of the bank. While the bank called him to clear the pending loan amount, it allegedly failed to return the excess payment, raising questions about customer rights. “I paid Rs 10, but 66 paise was not returned. This is not about money, it is about justice. If necessary, I will fight against the bank,” Charan warned.
