Lucknow/Agra, Feb 24: Two courts in Uttar Pradesh received bomb threats via email on Tuesday afternoon, prompting authorities to evacuate the premises and conduct intensive search operations, officials said. No suspicious object was found.
According to police, the district judge’s court in Lucknow received the threat around 1 pm. Following the alert, personnel from the local police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad launched a thorough search of the premises that lasted nearly three to four hours.

Station House Officer of Wazeerganj police station, Rajesh Tripathi, said that upon receiving the email, immediate checking of the entire court complex was initiated. Areas including parking spaces for two-wheelers were scanned as part of the operation.
A similar bomb threat was received at the civil court complex in Agra the same afternoon. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshay Mahadik said the threat email was received around 1 pm, after which local police, the bomb disposal squad and special security force personnel evacuated the area.
“All gates of the court were closed, and a detailed search was conducted. So far, nothing suspicious has been recovered,” Mahadik said, adding that agencies have been deployed to prevent any security lapse.
Judicial proceedings at both courts were temporarily halted but resumed after the premises were declared safe.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the source of the threatening emails. Earlier, on February 16, five district courts in the state, including Lucknow, had received similar bomb threats, which also turned out to be hoaxes after searches yielded nothing suspicious.
