Youth found hanging at Navoor in Beltangady; case registered

Beltangady, Feb 18: A 29-year-old youth was found dead after allegedly hanging himself at Bolottu in Navoor village of Beltangady taluk. The incident came to light on February 16.

The deceased has been identified as Rakshith (29), son of Dinesh Poojari, a resident of Bolottu house in Navoor.

According to sources, Rakshith had dinner on the night of February 15 and went to sleep. On the morning of February 16, he was found hanging from the window grill of a room in the house using a bedsheet.

It is learnt that he had a history of substance abuse and had undergone treatment earlier. Though he had reportedly stopped for a brief period, he is said to have resumed consumption. He had not been attending work for the past three weeks and was staying at home. It is suspected that he may have been under mental distress.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady police station, and further investigation is underway.
