Actor Pravina Deshpande no more; film and TV fraternity mourns her demise at 60

Mumbai, Feb 18: Veteran actor Pravina Deshpande passed away on Tuesday, February 17, after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 60. The news of her demise was confirmed by her family through a statement shared on her official Instagram account.

In a note posted on Instagram Stories and as a separate message, the family said, “It is with great sadness that we inform you that Mrs Pravina Deshpande has left for her heavenly abode on 17th February 2026.” The cremation was scheduled to be held the same day at 3.00 pm at the Hindu Crematorium, Chakala Parsiwada, Andheri East. The message was signed by her family members — Aniruddha, Abhimanyu, Ruchira and Veer Deshpande.

The Cine & TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) condoled her death in a post on X, stating that the association expresses its heartfelt condolences on the demise of Pravina Deshpande, who had been a member since 2008.

Pravina Deshpande had a long and versatile career spanning Hindi and Marathi cinema, television, theatre and web series. She featured in several notable Bollywood films including Ready starring Salman Khan, Ek Villain featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor, and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran alongside John Abraham.

On television, she was part of popular serials such as Ghar Ek Mandir, Kumkum, Karam Apnaa Apnaa and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala, earning appreciation for her impactful performances.

Her final screen appearance was in Taskaree, which starred Emraan Hashmi.

With her passing, the industry has lost a seasoned performer whose contributions across multiple mediums left a lasting impression on audiences.
