Abu Dhabi, Feb 16: The BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi recently commemorated its second anniversary, celebrating two years of spiritual service and cultural unity in the United Arab Emirates.
Since its inauguration on February 14, 2024, by Mahant Swami Maharaj, the temple has welcomed more than four million visitors representing over 100 nationalities, emerging as a global emblem of peaceful coexistence and shared human values.
The anniversary gathering, themed “Mandir: Our Family, Our Future,” drew over 8,000 devotees, diplomats, dignitaries, and families. The celebration highlighted the Mandir’s evolving role — not only as a sacred space for worship, but also as a vibrant centre fostering family bonds, community engagement, and intercultural dialogue.

Delivering the keynote message on behalf of Mahant Swami Maharaj, Swami Brahmviharidas reflected on the Mandir’s journey over the past two years. Using a metaphor, he said that just as a child begins to speak at two years old, the Mandir has now begun to “speak” to the world with a message of harmony — a message that has resonated with visitors ranging from ambassadors and faith leaders to tourists and local residents.
A special tribute was paid to Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan for his longstanding efforts in promoting cultural understanding and unity within the UAE. In his address, he described the Mandir as a powerful symbol of shared human values and a testament to the strong and enduring ties between India and the UAE. He reiterated the nation’s commitment to fostering respect among diverse faiths and cultures and expressed hope that the temple would continue to inspire future generations.
The event featured a series of “Mandir Talks” that showcased the temple’s widening social and global impact. Diplomats spoke of its role as a bridge between heritage and contemporary diplomacy. Families shared personal experiences of finding a welcoming spiritual home where traditions are celebrated and service strengthens relationships. Community representatives highlighted the Mandir’s contribution to volunteerism, inclusion, and social cohesion.
A forward-looking segment titled “Mandir Talks to the Future” saw children leading collective pledges focused on self-improvement, family values, national harmony, and environmental responsibility — underscoring the Mandir’s dedication to nurturing compassionate and responsible citizens.
Blending traditional artistry with sustainable design, the Mandir stands as a landmark of civilisational collaboration. As it steps into its third year, it continues to reflect the UAE’s vision of peaceful coexistence, demonstrating how faith, service, and unity can help shape a more harmonious world.
