MCC Qatar Ladies Team clinches consecutive third championship in throwball tournament

Qatar, Feb 15: The MCC Qatar Ladies Team continued their dominance in throwball by clinching the championship title at the tournament held at Hamilton International School on February 5 and 6, securing their third consecutive championship victory.

After completing the league stage with strong performances, MCC qualified for the semi-finals, carrying their momentum into the knockout rounds.

In the semi-final, MCC faced Karnataka Sangha Qatar and registered a convincing straight-sets win with scores of 15–8 and 15–12, displaying strong control and tactical superiority.

The final proved to be a thrilling contest as MCC took on Tulukoota Qatar-1 in a nail-biting encounter. After an intense three-set battle, MCC emerged victorious with scores of 21–17, 14–21, and 21–19. Notably, this marked the third consecutive final between MCC and Tulukoota Qatar, with MCC triumphing on all three occasions, underlining their consistent dominance at the highest level.

This championship victory represents a significant milestone for MCC Qatar, symbolizing the relentless effort, determination, and competitive spirit of the women’s team, backed by strong preparation and unity.

The team was led with great composure and leadership by captain Sujatha Fernandez. The championship-winning squad included Aarti Fernandes, Aysha Mohammed, Angela Anthony, Shereen Nawab Khan, Salima Muzammil, Sharon Lobo, Mable D’Souza, Reshma Monteiro, Shalini Lobo, Flavia D’Souza, Abida Sattar Khan and Josna D’Souza, with each player playing a crucial role in the team’s successful campaign.

Salima Muzammil was deservedly awarded player of the tournament for her outstanding and consistent performance throughout the competition.

MCC Qatar also extends sincere appreciation to coach Lynel Jason Lobo for his dedicated guidance and commitment, as well as manager Ryan Renjar and sports secretary Shameen Lewis for their constant encouragement and support, which proved vital to the team’s preparation and championship-winning performance.
