Udupi: Parichya Rangotsava 2026 inaugurated at Pamboor

Udupi, Feb 10: The inaugural ceremony of Parichaya Rangotsava 2026 was held on February 8 at Rangaparichaya, Pamboor, marking the beginning of the much-anticipated theatre festival from February 8 to 14.

The festival was formally inaugurated by Geetha Suratkal, a renowned theatre personality and artist, who emphasized the importance of theatre in nurturing cultural values and creative expression.

The programme was presided over by Dr Vincent Alva, managing trustee of Parichaya.



Among the chief guests were Fr Roshan D’Souza, parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Pamboor, and K S Shridharamurthy, a retired lecturer of St Mary’s Junior College. Both guests lauded Parichaya’s continuous efforts in promoting theatre and supporting artistic talent.

The concept note and welcome address were delivered by Prakash Noronha, secretary of Parichaya, who outlined the objectives of Rangotsava 2026 and highlighted the organization’s journey in the field of theatre.

Apoorva Osta, Trustee of Parichaya, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all guests, artists, organizers, and theatre enthusiasts who contributed to the success of the inaugural event. The programme was compered by Richard Saldanha, Trustee of Parichaya.

The inaugural ceremony was then followed by the inaugural play 'Nammolagobba Gandhi', presented by Rangayana Shivamogga.

The inaugural ceremony set an enthusiastic tone for Parichaya Rangotsava 2026, which is expected to showcase a variety of theatrical performances and cultural activities in the coming days.
