Manchester, Feb 7: Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has said the club must avoid rushing into a decision on appointing a permanent manager, stressing that his own role and outlook remain unchanged despite a strong run of results.
Carrick took charge until the end of the season after Ruben Amorim was sacked in January and has since overseen an impressive revival, guiding United to three consecutive Premier League victories against Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham to move up to fourth place.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash against Tottenham, the 44-year-old former United midfielder said recent successes should not prompt knee-jerk decisions.
“Nothing’s changed. It’s not going to change what I do or how I feel about it,” Carrick told reporters. “I’m fully aware of the role I’m doing and the responsibility I’ve got. We want the club to be successful beyond the end of the season.”
He added that whether he continues in the role or someone else takes over is beyond his control, underlining the need for steady progress rather than reacting too quickly to short-term results.
United had also held talks with former managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ruud van Nistelrooy before appointing Carrick as caretaker. Back at Old Trafford, where he won multiple honours during a 12-year playing career, Carrick admitted he is enjoying the opportunity after being sacked by Middlesbrough last year.
“I’m loving what I’m doing. I feel at home here, but I understand the situation and I’m not getting too carried away,” he said.
