Madikeri, Jan 30: The Madikeri police have successfully seized the car that rammed into an auto-rickshaw from behind and fled the scene, leading to the death of the auto-rickshaw driver, near Katakeri close to Madikeri.
The incident occurred on January 28 afternoon at Sampaje in Kodagu district. The auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Sundar, lost his life after the auto-rickshaw overturned following the collision. The car involved in the accident was later traced and seized by Madikeri police. It is learnt that the occupants of the car are from Mysuru, and they have been taken into police custody. Further investigation is underway.
According to reports, the auto-rickshaw was travelling from Sampaje Gate towards Chedayu when, near a curve close to the Sampaje petrol pump in Kodagu, a car coming from behind rammed into it and fled the spot. During the incident, the auto-rickshaw reportedly came under the wheels of an oncoming tipper lorry, resulting in the death of the driver on the spot.
