Shivamogga, Jan 27: Minister Madhu Bangarappa has announced that students from LKG to Class 12 will receive free textbooks and notebooks starting from the next academic year, a move aimed at boosting educational opportunities across the state.

Speaking at a press conference, he said the government had initially approved the establishment of 500 KPS schools.

“To place greater emphasis on education and provide all facilities under a single roof, the government has now sanctioned 900 KPS schools at a total cost of Rs 3,500 crore,” he said.

The minister added that the chief minister will inaugurate these schools in February or March, with the launch taking place in Shivamogga district itself.

This is the best I evver heard from our Govt till now.It allows atleast poor children to have education without much burden ,but same time would be still better to reduce or fees to discuss. That should be reduced ?Important is it should happen at right time but not at the end of year saying it was not released or were not available. We know how it is with govt.free things.

Free text books is one thing, which is good. But upgradation of Govt schools with proper teachers and basic infrastructure is what is required on war footing. Also give free travel to students than to the women. at least our children will ne encouraged to attend school if this is done

Free books is ok but how about age norms children and parents stuck in between forced to pay again fees to school for repeated classes adding financial burden and mental distress, no one in government is looking into the matter.
