Udupi: Container lorry runs over 19-year-old scooterist, killing him

Udupi, Jan 25: A youth lost his life after a container lorry ran over him in Udupi city on Sunday.

The tragic incident occurred in Kalsanka, opposite Paakashala Restaurant, when a container lorry travelling from Udupi to Manipal collided with a scooter from behind. The scooter rider fell onto the road and was subsequently run over by the lorry’s tyres.

The deceased has been identified as Avinash (19) of Manipal. Authorities confirmed that he died on the spot.

Further details regarding the accident are awaited, and local police have reportedly begun an investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision.

    O my God,hard.Sorry to hear this.May his soul rest i peace.He was so young.Lorry driver had his mind elsewhere than on road?When big vehicles are on road ,dangerous to drive scooter too in between these vehicles.However now one must clear who is the culprit?High speed from lorry driver?Heartfelt sympathies to family.Better to have a road for heavy vehicles or two wheelers.
