Mangaluru, Jan 24: Film artiste and music composer Satish, popularly known as Swathi Satish and a resident of Mudipu, passed away on Saturday. He is believed to have ended his life by hanging near Mittabare in Mudipu, reportedly distressed by personal reasons. He was aged around 49 years.

Satish had been actively involved in creative and fine arts for nearly three-and-a-half decades in Mudipu under the banner Swathi Arts. Though not formally trained in painting or music, he learned both through self-interest and dedication, eventually turning them into his profession and means of livelihood.

A skilled keyboard player, he had provided musical accompaniment for thousands of programmes and was also a music composer in his own right. He conducted keyboard classes and imparted music education to many students. In addition, he was a versatile creative professional who worked in stage décor with backdrops for cultural programmes, makeup, cement sculpture, crafting, and banner writing.

Many individuals who received training and inspiration from him have gone on to establish themselves in artistic fields. On Saturday morning around 9 am, he was seen in the Mudipu area, and it is learnt that he later took the extreme step by hanging himself from a tree near his house due to undisclosed reasons.

He is survived by his wife and son.
