Bantwal, Jan 23: “I love India, and my journey is aimed at understanding its culture,” said Belgian national Raphael, who has been travelling across the country on a bicycle since December 30.

Raphael, who was cycling from Madikeri towards Bantwal, spoke to the media near Mani. He said he had read extensively about Indian Ayurveda, the environment and the country’s rich cultural heritage, but experiencing them firsthand during his journey had been a truly fulfilling experience. “I am happy to see and document all these aspects closely during my travel,” he said.

Expressing curiosity about Indian food habits, Raphael said he had already travelled through several major cities across different states, including Bengaluru, Madurai and Munnar. He added that after reaching Mangaluru, he plans to continue his journey via Goa and travel further up to Jaipur.

Recalling his experiences, Raphael said people in many places spoke to him with warmth and affection, and he praised the hospitality and cultural richness of India.
