Mangaluru, Jan 21: The state government has granted administrative approval for the first phase of construction of the new Outpatient Department (OPD) building at Wenlock District Hospital here, with an estimated outlay of Rs 35 crore.
As announced in the state budget, the OPD block is proposed to be constructed at a total cost of Rs 70 crore. Approval has now been accorded for the initial phase, along with permission to invite tenders based on the estimated cost of Rs 35 crore, according to an order issued on January 19 by Prabhakar T, undersecretary to the government, department of health and family welfare.

The order further stated that under Budget Head 138(3) of the 2025–26 financial year, the state government had announced renovation works for several taluk-level hospitals, including those in Malur, Magadi, Kushalnagar, Koratagere, Jagalur, Savanur, Ramdurg and Saundatti. The initiative also covers Davanagere district hospital and Wenlock District Hospital in Mangaluru, with a total budgetary allocation of Rs 650 crore.
