Netflix announces ‘Kohrra’ Season 2 release on February 11

New Delhi, Jan 20: Streaming giant Netflix on Tuesday announced that its critically acclaimed police procedural series Kohrra will return with its second season on February 11.

Following a widely praised first season for its layered, character-driven narrative, the new instalment promises a fresh investigation set against Punjab’s bleak, wintry backdrop, where unspoken truths often carry more weight than confessions.

Actor Barun Sobti will reprise his role as Assistant Sub-Inspector Amarpal Garundi, while Mona Singh joins the franchise in a pivotal new role. Rannvijay Singha will also be seen playing an important character in the upcoming season.

Created and written by Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia and Sudip Sharma, Season 2 introduces a new case and a new partnership, while retaining the sombre tone and rooted storytelling that defined the first season. This time, Garundi moves on from Jagrana and is posted to Dalerpura Police Station, where he works under his new commanding officer, Dhanwant Kaur (Mona Singh).

Director and showrunner Sudip Sharma, speaking in a press note, said, “It’s quite exciting to be back. Season 1 allowed us to explore quieter tensions between people, between past and present. This season too, we’ve tried to present as authentic a portrayal of Punjab as possible, with characters rooted in a universal reality seen across the country. The show is an emotional roller-coaster, and Barun and Mona have done a fantastic job.”

Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, described Kohrra as a “cult classic” that has earned multiple awards and widespread acclaim. “What makes it unique is its honest simplicity — unassuming settings that gradually reveal deep layers of complexity as the fog lifts episode after episode. Set in a new city with a new crime and partnership, Season 2 is even more riveting,” she said, crediting Sudip Sharma’s craftsmanship as creator, showrunner and director.

Kohrra Season 1 was released in 2023 and received strong critical appreciation for its realistic depiction of crime and human emotions.
