Mangaluru, Dec 31: The Dakshina Kannada Regional Transport Authority has decided to impose specific conditions for granting permits to operate e-autos within Mangaluru city limits.

As per the decision, applicants seeking an e-auto permit must submit a residence certificate proving that they have been residing within the Mangaluru City Corporation limits for a minimum period of five years. Those who already hold autorickshaw permits within the city limits will not be eligible for an e-autorickshaw permit.

Only one e-autorickshaw permit will be issued per individual. It has also been made mandatory for e-auto permit holders to possess a valid driving licence and badge. Further, the authority has stipulated that the permit holder himself or herself must compulsorily drive the e-autorickshaw.

The decision has been taken to regulate the operation of e-autos in the city and ensure proper compliance with transport regulations.
