St Agnes School CBSE Annual Day ‘Bloomora’: A celebration in full bloom

Mangaluru, Dec 24: St Agnes School CBSE marked the second day of its Annual Day celebration, titled 'Bloomora' on December 20 at the Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Auditorium. The programme served as a vibrant continuation of the festivities, showcasing the talents of students from early learners to senior grades and reflecting a rich journey of growth and expression. 'Bloomora' symbolising blossoming creativity, hope, and youthful aspirations, echoed the school’s commitment to holistic education, where values, imagination and excellence are nurtured together.

The evening commenced with a dignified guard of honour, accompanied by a brass band display, which added ceremonial grandeur to the occasion. The programme was graced by a distinguished gathering that included Sr Carmel Rita AC, administrator, St Agnes College (Autonomous) and president of the programme; Aneesh Thomas, director, Inspire NEET, Mangaluru; Sr Maria Sarika AC, principal; Sr Meena Fernandes, vice principal; Sr Lethicia AC, KG coordinator; Pradeep Misquith, vice president, PTA, along with members of the management team and other dignitaries.

The programme opened on a melodious note with an opening chorus, which filled the hall with harmony and unity. This was followed by a graceful welcome dance, where rhythm and expression came together to extend a warm and vibrant welcome to the gathering. The welcome address was delivered by the co-ordinator, Sr Lavishanti AC, who welcomed the gathering and introduced the dignitaries. This was followed by a floral welcome, during which the chief guest was honoured with a potted blossom by the principal, Sr Maria Sarika AC, the president of the programme by Sr Lethicia AC and the PTA vice president by Ranjitha, reflecting the institution’s gracious hospitality.

The performances began with the LKG presentation titled 'Peace with Nature', where the tiny performers charmed the audience with their innocent expressions and gentle message of harmony with the natural world. Grade IV students followed with 'Traditional Craftsmanship of India', bringing to life the rich heritage of Indian arts through colour, movement, and cultural symbolism.

Following this, the programme moved into a formal stage segment focused on institutional review and recognition. The annual report, presented by Neesha and Reena, offered a comprehensive overview of the school’s academic achievements, co-curricular excellence, student accomplishments, and the collective efforts that shaped the institution’s progress during the academic year.

A major highlight of this segment was the honouring and prize distribution ceremony, during which students were recognised for excellence in sports and outstanding achievements beyond the classroom. Special honours were first conferred on Krithi S Aithal (grade IV) for her remarkable accomplishments in roller and speed skating at the district, state, national, and CBSE levels, followed by Advika K P (grade VIII) for her commendable achievements in athletics and Aditi K P (grade VI) for her promising performances in track events. Each achiever was felicitated with a shawl by Sr Carmel Rita AC, president of the programme, garlanded by the chief guest, Aneesh Thomas and presented with a memento by the principal, Sr Maria Sarika AC.

The honours were bestowed in the presence of the students’ parents, who were also acknowledged with a potted blossom in appreciation of their constant encouragement and support.

The segment further included the felicitation of school cabinet members for their dedicated service and leadership, followed by special recognition of the co-curricular and extracurricular instructors, whose guidance in sports, music, dance, art, dramatics and games played a vital role in nurturing students’ talents. The segment was conducted efficiently by Vindhya, acknowledging the perseverance and dedication of the achievers.

In his address, the chief guest, Aneesh Thomas, highlighted three guiding values the role of consistent effort in building confidence, the belief that attitude determines altitude, and the wise use of time. Addressing parents, he urged them to encourage effort over results, nurturing resilience and self-belief in students.

The address by the president, Sr Carmel Rita AC, interwoven with thoughtful anecdotes, centred on the institution’s belief that at St Agnes School, children are nurtured to grow not only academically but also in character, with the constant support and partnership of their parents.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Tr Shwetha, who conveyed appreciation to the dignitaries, management, staff, parents and students for their continued support and cooperation, acknowledging the collective efforts that ensured the smooth conduct of the programme. The programme then continued with UKG’s 'Sparks of Joy', a lively and cheerful presentation that radiated energy, innocence, and youthful enthusiasm, leaving the audience visibly delighted.

Grade II students presented 'The Light of Hope', a heart-warming performance that highlighted optimism and resilience, reminding the audience of the power of a single spark to dispel darkness. This was followed by a Kannada tableau by grade VII titled 'Anubhuthi Anubhava', a deeply expressive presentation that beautifully portrayed emotions, experiences and cherished moments of childhood through traditional music, costumes and gestures.

The theme of values was further explored by grade VIII in 'Colours of Life', where courage, kindness, honesty, and compassion were symbolically represented through vibrant hues, reinforcing the importance of moral values in shaping character and society. The audience was then drawn into a powerful narrative through the grade X play on Helen Keller, which portrayed hope, determination and the triumph of the human spirit over adversity, leaving a lasting impact on all present.

Adding a festive touch to the evening, students presented a Christmas Carol medley, spreading joy, warmth and the spirit of sharing, in harmony with the season and the theme of Bloomora.

The programme was ably compered by teacher Kirti, alongside students Fathima Alisha (XA), Siyona T Kuruvilla (XD), Leanne Sarah (XA), Muniba (XD), Clarissa Rodrigues (XB), Reishan Maria (VIIID), Aarwin Tauro (IIB), and Meyan Pereira (IVC), ensuring a well-coordinated and engaging flow of events.

The programme formally came to an end with the school anthem, uniting voices in pride and gratitude. The Annual Day programme themed 'Bloomora', presented on the second day, celebrated creativity, values and togetherness, reaffirming St Agnes School CBSE’s commitment to holistic education.
