Mangaluru: Christmas - 2025 celebration held at Lourdes Central School

Mangaluru, Dec 23: The Christmas Day was celebrated on LCS Ground, on December 23 at 8 am.

The programme began by welcoming the dignitaries Dr J B Saldanha, manager LCS, Fr Johnson L Sequeira Fr Vishwas Misquith SJ, chief guest, Fr Arul Joseph, Fr Roydon Misquith, vice-principal Anitha Thomas followed by invoking god’s blessings through the reading of the scriptures and graceful dance performance which set a set the divine ambience in the minds and hearts of the audience.

The cultural programme included dance drama depicting the significance of the day, choir and the Jingle bell dancers lit up the stage with their vibrant performance. This was followed by the prize distribution for the winners in various competitions and also the inauguration of the fourth edition of the E-Magazine with the theme ‘Learning Beyond Boundaries.’

Fr Arul introduced the chief guest, Fr Vishwas Misquith SJ finance officer, St Aloysius (deemed to be University) was felicitated by the dignitaries.

Later the chief guest in his speech said that Christmas is a feast of giving, sharing and an historical moment that god’s intervention in the humanity, by sharing his love with the human beings, he also added that the sea of Galilee flows and there is life and greenery everywhere, so we also should be the channel of giving generously so that we are blessed with abundance and happiness.

Dr J B Saldanha, the manager in his presidential address said that we should be like a candle in the darkness, which can brighten up others life and its possible through sharing our love.

The programme concluded with the ‘votes of thanks by the santa’s visit to the school mesmerising the audience with his performance.

Kudos were given to students of classes 6 AB and the teachers who were involved in putting up such a spectacular show.

‘Experiencing the Divine in Every Act of Love’ with this theme Lourdes Central school organised a number of activities from December 15th to 23, in connection with Christmas day celebration for the students emphasising the values of kindness, peace, joy, generosity and humility.

On December 15th, the inauguration of Christmas week was done by class 11C with the theme ‘Angel’ and annunciation of Mother Mary, depicting intervention of divinity in human life and humility of mother Mary surrendering herself to the will of God.

On December 17, competitions like candle making, colouring the Christmas tree, card making, wreath, live crib etc. were organized by the school for grade one to grade five and the children enthusiastically participated by showcasing their talents.

On December 20, an outreach programme was organised by the school, around 160 students of 7ABCD visited St Antony Ashram, Jeppu and White Doves in Kulshekar, Mangaluru, where the students were given the opportunity to exhibit their talents of singing, dancing, and enacting and share the joy with the less fortunate. This helped them to understand and experience the true meaning of Christmas that lies in imbibing the values loving, sharing and caring.
