Doha, Dec 16: It was a much-awaited evening and finally when it came through, the audience in the ‘Asian Town Qatar’ Cinema no.1 was left spellbound by screening award winning Konkani feature film ‘CRAZY MOGI’ on silver anniversary of ‘World Goa Day’ celebration. After almost 3 hours of comedy drama through an intriguing storyline, much appreciated by Qatar’s Konkani audience.
Goan Welfare Association under the able and dynamic leadership of Simon D’Silva left no stone unturned in making silver anniversary year’s ‘World Goa Day Celebrations’ meaningful and memorable one to all those who attended the program held at the Asian Town, Cinema No.1 here on Friday evening, December 12.

The film has been produced by A. Durga Prasad, written, edited and directed by Chirst Silva is followed by humorous comics and elaborating real soulmates love which tends to do sacrifice in life which well received by the audience. One cannot but have a word of appreciation to the talent of director narrating twist in storyline and movie climax which well received by audience. Crazy Mogi has earned 14 awards at the 12th Goa State Film Festival and received an overwhelming response during its screenings in Dubai and London where Konkani speaking audiences showered it with praise.
Stalwart of Goan stage veteran actor John D’Silva regale their audience with their engrossing and amazing performance throughout the movie.
A short stage program was conducted by emcee Reena Castelino during the intermission. The chief guest of the evening Aloysius D’Souza, a well-known community leader, outgoing president of Konkani Speaking Community of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Qatar and ex-president of Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA) has been escorted to the stage by Goan Welfare Association (GWA) president Simon D’Silva along with director of movie Christ Silva, newly inducted chairman of GWA Mansingh Rane and all GWA committee members. Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA) president Gladson Almeida and Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar president Christen Lobo graced the occasion as guest of honors. Guests were welcomed with flowers bouquet.
President Simon D’Silva addressed the welcome keynote with intellectual quote of Marting Luther King Jr. and human fellowship of peace and harmony quote of Mother Tereza. An audio-video message to Goans, Mangaloreans and Konkani speaking community from UK based Rene Barretto, founder of ‘World Goa Day’ has been played on the screen. He appreciated the association’s dedication to organize the concluding celebration of silver jubilee of World Goa Day in Qatar. He thanked president Simon D'Silva for his 25 years of commitment and dedication for reaching out globally and bringing global goans and associations together to celebrate goan culture, tradition, cuisine and music.
Chief guest Aloysius D’Souza congratulated Goan Welfare Association for uplifting Konkani culture and tradition in Qatar for more than 25 years and successfully celebrating 25 years of Global Goans World Goa Day. He also appreciated the screening of Crazy Mogi and congratulated director Christ Silva, wishing him continued success in his future cinematic ventures.
D’Souza fondly recalled his long-standing friendship with GWA President Simon D’Silva, reflecting on their early efforts in jointly organizing and screening Konkani movies in Qatar, driven by their shared love for the Konkani language and Goan culture. He applauded the efforts of Simon D’Silva for the past 25 years or so leading the GWA in the front and staging mega events in Qatar and May Queen Ball being a signature event of the year among the Goans in the gulf countries.
He expressed his gratitude to the Goan Welfare Association for inviting and honoring him as the Chief Guest and commended the association for its thoughtful initiative of bringing together presidents of various Konkani associations under one roof. He particularly appreciated the presence of representatives from the Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Christen Lobo, and the Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), Gladson Almeida, highlighting the importance of unity within the Konkani-speaking community.
Emphasizing harmony and mutual understanding, D’Souza stated that unity among Konkani associations is essential to effectively serve the community. He reiterated his long-cherished desire to see all Konkani associations in Qatar work together with mutual respect and a shared vision for the welfare of people in Qatar as well as back home in India. The evening stood as a strong message of togetherness, cultural pride, and collective responsibility towards strengthening the Konkani community.
Director Christ Silva, qualified mechanical engineer and newly inducted Goan Welfare Association’s, chairman Mansingh Rane were felicitated by GWA with mementos and shawls on the occasions. GWA Chairman, Mansingh Rane, hailing from a beautiful village of Pilerne, Goa, is an innovative entrepreneur, manages multiple ventures across Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and India.
