Former Pakistani general Faiz Hameed found guilty by Military Court

Islamabad, Dec 12: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that former Pakistani general Faiz Hameed has been found guilty on all charges after “lengthy and laborious” military court proceedings. The court, which allowed Hameed full legal representation, issued the sentence on December 11, with the general retaining the right to appeal.

The ISPR statement noted that Hameed’s alleged involvement in “fomenting vested political agitation and instability” in coordination with political actors is being examined separately, indicating the possibility of further action. Observers have linked this to his purported role in the unrest following former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s arrest in May 2023.

Reacting to the court’s verdict, Defence Minister Khwaja Asif remarked that the nation would face the consequences of the actions taken by Faiz Hameed and former army chief General Bajwa for years to come.

The military court emphasized that all legal provisions were followed during the proceedings, marking a significant development in Pakistan’s ongoing scrutiny of its military and political affairs.
