AICS inter-school Kho-Kho tournament ‘Carmel Chase 2K25’ held

Mangaluru, Dec 11: Carmel Central School, Kotekar, in association with the Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools (AICS), DK District, proudly hosted the AICS inter-school Kho-Kho tournament 'Carmel Chase – 2K25' on December 10. The school grounds came alive with enthusiasm, competitive spirit, and vibrant energy as teams from various schools gathered to showcase their talent.

The grand opening ceremony commenced with the arrival of the dignitaries, escorted to the venue by the school band, setting a tone of celebration and pride. The distinguished guests included Sr Juliana Mary AC, president, superior, Stella Maris Convent and joint secretary of campus institutions; Fr Francis Arun D’Souza OP, principal, St Dominic School, CBSE, Polali, and chief guest for the day; Sr Pramila, principal; Sr Julie Ann AC, administrator; Sr Anitha, vice principal; Sr Sheethal, headmistress, Stella Maris Kannada Medium School; and Sudheer, PTA vice president.

The ceremony began with a soulful prayer song invoking God’s blessings for harmony, fairness, and success. A vibrant welcome dance by the students added colour and rhythm to the morning. Principal Sr Pramila warmly welcomed the guests, participants, and spectators through her formal address.

The chief guest, Fr Francis Arun D’Souza OP, officially inaugurated the tournament through the symbolic Kho-Kho inauguration. In his inspiring message, he emphasized the importance of sports in cultivating discipline, teamwork, leadership, and integrity. He reminded the students that true victory lies not only in medals but in the display of respect, unity, and sportsmanship.

The Presidential address by Sr Juliana Mary AC highlighted the significance of physical education in developing confident, resilient, and well-balanced individuals. She encouraged all players to give their best and cherish the experiences gained through healthy competition.

The proceedings of the opening ceremony were gracefully compered by Prafulla, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Rita.

Following the inauguration, the Kho-Kho matches began with great zeal. Students demonstrated agility, sharp reflexes, teamwork, and strategic play. Every team showcased exemplary sportsmanship, making the tournament a thrilling and memorable experience.

Closing ceremony

The closing ceremony was equally grand. Dignitaries were once again escorted by the school band. The event began with a prayer song and a lively welcome dance. A formal welcome was presented by Sr Ashwina.

The ceremony was presided over by Sr Julie Ann AC, administrator, who congratulated all teams for their outstanding performances and applauded their dedication and sportsman spirit.

The prize distribution was conducted by Swetha and Martha.

Results: Boys’ category

Winners: Sri Sathya Sai Lokaseva Vidyakendra, Alike

Runners-up: St Dominic’s School, Bantwal

Girls’ Category

Winners: St Dominic’s School, Bantwal

Runners-up: Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School, Kotekar

The vote of thanks was proposed by Saritha, who expressed heartfelt appreciation to the guests, participating schools, physical education teachers, organizers, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event. The ceremony was anchored by the MC Saimeen with poise and clarity.

The event concluded with the singing of the school anthem, marking the dignified close of Carmel Chase – 2K25—a true celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and youthful vibrance.
