Konkan Railway nets Rs 2.33 crore in fines from ticketless travellers in November

Udupi, Dec 9: A special crackdown on ticketless travel across the Konkan Railway route has yielded significant results, with the Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) collecting a hefty Rs 2.33 crore in fines in November alone.

In a statement, KRCL said its teams conducted 1,070 special ticket-checking drives during the month, during which 42,965 passengers travelling without valid tickets or moving about unauthorisedly on trains were detected. “A total fine amount of Rs 2.33 crore has been collected from offenders,” the release said.

The corporation noted that enforcement measures have been stepped up through the year. From January to November 2025, KRCL carried out 7,843 special checking operations, identifying 2,90,786 ticketless and unauthorised travellers and collecting Rs 17.83 crore in penalties.

Railway officials urged commuters to ensure they purchase authorised tickets before travelling on the Konkan Railway line. They said this helps “avoid inconvenience to fellow passengers and prevents disruption to services.”

KRCL added that intensified checking would continue across all sections of the Konkan Railway network in the coming days.
