Iran signals strong push to deepen regional economic and diplomatic cooperation

Tehran, Dec 4: Iranian foreign minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to expanding the country’s economic and trade relations, particularly with neighbouring states, according to reports from local media. During a meeting with lawmakers, he outlined the Foreign Ministry’s approach to current regional and global developments and emphasized the initiatives being pursued to safeguard Iran’s national interests.

Araghchi underscored the need for close coordination between the Foreign Ministry and Parliament, noting that such cooperation is essential for the effective functioning of the country’s diplomatic framework. Earlier in the week, he reiterated the ministry’s ongoing efforts to defend Iran’s rights and interests, highlighting that maintaining national unity and cohesion was a shared responsibility vital to countering hostile pressures.

Reflecting on Iran’s foreign policy trajectory over the past year, Araghchi described the country’s response to attacks by Israel and the United States as a pivotal moment in Iran’s modern history. He praised the Iranian people for their resolve in resisting what he termed illegitimate demands, and credited the nation’s leadership, armed forces, and collective solidarity for shaping what he called a historic victory.

He also stressed the need to strengthen Iran’s overall national power—ranging from defence capabilities to social capital and unity—and noted that the government continues to work toward addressing the country’s economic challenges.
